We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance in Burwood Avenue and the main task for the day will be to cut back and remove vegetation encroaching the Junipers in the Juniper compound located in Sherwood Glade and the compound located next to the Butterfly Glade as well as the individual Junipers located near the compounds and in the Butterfly Glade. One of the posts supporting the deer fencing in the Sherwood Glade compound also needs sharpening and re-staking.
A flock of sheep will be coming on Wednesday or Thursday to graze Sherwood Oaks Field and will be staying on site until mid to late May depending on grass growth. Although the sheep will already have arrived before the work day another task could still be to strim and rake the stock gate enclosure as well as strim/cut a path up the slope next to the enclosure to the battery. Other tasks may be identified on the day.
As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks although FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed. I won't be attending the April work days as we have family visiting from Canada but Mick has kindly agreed to bring the tools.
Please would you let Roger Crabb know if you'll be able to make the work day (rjcrabb@talktalk.net) – many thanks.
