We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the picnic tables/benches located along the top path where Sherwood Oaks Field starts and the tasks planned for the day are as follows:
Vegetation around the picnic tables/benches located along the top path fence line needs to be brushcut/raked before the picnic tables/benches become too overgrown.
The path leading down from the picnic tables/benches between the Juniper compounds and the edge of Sherwood Glade towards the middle path needs to brushcut/raked so there is an access path on either side of the glade. The other path is the one leading down from the picnic tables/benches along the fence line to the Stag Beetle Loggery.
The scalloped path leading down to the bottom path from the Sherwood Glade Juniper compound closest to the path also needs to be brushcut and raked.
The vegetation encroaching the two Juniper compounds in Sherwood Glade could do with some further brushcutting/raking as could the two Junipers located in the Butterfly Glade.
Time permitting vegetation encroaching/overhanging the bottom path could do with cutting back as coming from the Burwood Avenue entrance there are several points where bramble and Hogweed are now too close to the path.
There may be other tasks on the day that need doing.
FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks although FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
Please would you let Roger Crabb know if you'll be able to make the work day (rjcrabb@talktalk.net)
