We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the Burwood Avenue entrance and the main task for the day will be to replace the temporary deer fencing put around the 20 DED Elms with permanent new fencing which was unfortunately delivered the day after the last work day. As no significant rain is forecast for the foreseeable future the newly planted Elms will also need a good watering.
The path/steps leading up from Burwood Avenue to the kissing gate closest to the mineral lick/water trough have become very overgrown and the vegetation needs cutting back/clearing as does the bramble growing around the saplings located along the bottom path.
Time permitting, an area in front of the Woodland Way gate also needs to be cleared for the stacking of the felled timber ready for collection as well as an area for the delivery of lorry loads of MOT for the path surfacing work - dates T.B.A.
Any help you can give on the day no matter how much or how little is always very much appreciated - an hour or two of your time can make all the difference as to whether the task(s) planned for the day get done. As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the above tasks but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.
Please would you let me know if you will be able to make the work day (chrispm_parker@hotmail.co.uk) - many thanks.
