Work day: 09/08/2026

We will be meeting at 10.00 a.m. at the entrance in Burwood Avenue and the tasks for the day are to:

(1) Water 20 DED resistant Elm trees along paths on the edge of Sherwood Oaks Field. Also water 2 Wych Elms and 3 Junipers planted at the same time as the Elms.

(2) Clear a fallen tree approx half way along the Bottom Path.

(3) Scythe and clear undergrowth from a section of the Top Path towards the pond.

Any help you can give with the above no matter how much or how little is always very much appreciated - an hour or two of your time can make all the difference as to whether the task(s) planned for the day get done. As usual FoF will be providing all the necessary tools for the task but please would you bring your own gloves and tools (shears and loppers) if you have them. Please would you also bring your own wipes and hand gel as well as your own refreshments. Please also remember to wear long trousers/jeans to avoid getting bitten by ticks but FoF’s First Aid kit does contain tick removers if needed.

Please would you let Bill Bessant (bessant@mac.com) know if you will be able to make the work day - many thanks.
