Botanic Survey -  Fungi Foray

The fourth botanic survey this year will take place on Thursday 11th October, meeting at 10 am at the Woodland Way entrance and lead as previously by Dr Jane Maclauchlin. It will be a ''fungi foray'' looking mainly in the woodland, but also checking for any [very] late flowering plants, especially in the grazed field. As always, the more eyes the better, so do please join us.

Fungi perform an essential role in the decomposition of organic matter and have fundamental roles in nutrient cycling and exchange in the environment. Nearly all green plants have a symbiotic association, called mycorrhiza, with fungi in or on their root sytem. They are essential for healthy plants.
